Hobbies & Interests Rix has a deep appreciation for the mechanics and history of physical weaponry, and keeps a collection of antique ballistic components and ammo casings from multiple centuries. He programs his own high-risk holodeck scenarios simulating ground warfare under energy-dampening conditions, testing the limits of kinetic solutions. While not one for large crowds, he occasionally takes part in off-the-books weapons demonstrations and survivalist exercises. In his quiet time, he enjoys tinkering with modified breaching charges, balancing destructive power with precision deployment.

Personal History Damaris Rix was born in 2358 on Proxima Outpost, a rugged frontier colony situated near the former Cardassian Demilitarised Zone. The son of a Starfleet Marine and a civilian engineer, Rix was raised in an environment where discipline, resilience, and survival skills were part of daily life. When the Dominion War reached its final, desperate phase, he enlisted in Starfleet at the age of seventeen, eager to serve and protect the Federation colonies under threat. His first assignment was aboard a defence platform orbiting Benzar, where he worked as an ordnance loader. Though the war ended shortly after, the experience left a lasting impression on his sense of purpose and caution.

Following the war, Rix undertook intensive training at Camp Wolf Station between 2376 and 2381. There, he specialised in demolitions, improvised ordnance disposal, and ballistic forensics, showing a particular aptitude for working under pressure. In 2382, during a mission on a world still plagued by Dominion holdouts, Rix survived a heavy mortar bombardment that killed several of his team. The incident was formative—instilling in him a near-obsessive dedication to understanding and countering kinetic threats, especially those used in irregular or low-tech combat scenarios.

From 2384 to 2390, Rix was posted to a series of volatile colonies along the old DMZ. These assignments placed him in the heart of counter-insurgency operations where conventional phaser tactics often failed. He became known as a capable combat engineer with a sharp eye for improvised explosives and the guerrilla tactics used to deploy them. His ability to dismantle traps and sabotage networks, sometimes under direct fire, earned him the respect of his peers and superiors alike.

Recognising his experience, Starfleet reassigned Rix in 2391 to the Ground Combat School, where he served as an instructor until 2396. There, he developed practical courses in explosive ordnance disposal, cryo-pack countermeasures, and breach theory for use in both urban and starship environments. He was instrumental in revising Starfleet's field training protocols in response to threats posed by the Breen, Nausicaans, and other factions known to rely on unconventional arms.

In 2397, with tensions rising in various Federation border regions and a growing need for specialists outside the standard tactical paradigm, Rix was selected for duty aboard the USS Artemis. Assigned to the Starfleet Criminal Investigations Service (SFCIS), he now serves as the ship’s senior enlisted expert in explosives and ballistics. His role is central to both forensic investigations and high-risk tactical operations—an ideal placement for a man who has spent his life walking the line between precision and destruction.
