Mission: Episode 2 - The Sins of History
Location: Main Engineering Lower Level - Deck 17 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD009 1600 hrs

Lax was fresh off of the shuttle and she figured that she would go and meet her new boss. It took her a second to get her bearings as she was used to the architecture of a Nor class starbase. But she was very thankful for Starfleet surroundings, although she had never been on a Luna before. "Computer l, Engineering location" she said. Lax then followed the lights to it. When she entered Lax saw a person near the warp core who she assumed was the boss, Lax walked over. "Hello? My name is Lieutenant Myles. I'm looking for Lieutenant Graesyn"

Sarah pulled her hand back from the railing where she had been both listening to and feeling the hum of the warp core; gauging the old fashioned way whether she was in proper working order and she nodded silently for a moment before turning, satisfied that the Engineers were keeping the ship in proper order. She looked over the new arrival and stepped closer, offering a hand.

"You've found her; the Commander mentioned that I would be getting a new arrival soon so you must be her. What's your background?"

Lax took the ordered hand. "A general engineering officer. Lax replied. "Started off on a defiant class straight out of the Academy, then transferred to Empok Nor because my husband got a Chief Tactical spot close to there. That place was a challenge to be sure. In my office time I learned about forensics. A spot here came available and I applied."

"Empok Nor, huh? Interesting assignment. You and I share expertise with Cardassian technology then... and its unique issues and routine failures. I assure you the Artemis is a wholly different situation. Everything on board here runs much more smoothly though despite that fact we run the same protocols and the same daily checks and scans so that we stay ahead of the curve and any issues that might arise... though let me assure you that I would absolutely kill for an android on staff some days."

"Either an android or Miles O'Brien. Both would've been a great help." Lax laughed. "But it went ok. Just finding whatever works"

Sarah nodded with a small chuckle. “Oh aye; either one would be useful indeed. As to your own duties there may be times that you end up in charge of Engineering while myself or Ensign Th’ashianet are handling other things. We are a little short staffed from what I would prefer but the crew is good and I have no doubt you’ll be an asset soon as you’ve hit the deck properly.”

Sarah consulted a PaDD on a nearby console and smiled. “Looks like your first duty shift is tomorrow alongside myself on Alpha Shift so I can show you the ropes and then from there you’ll be on Delta Shift; do you have any experience running Engineering on your own?”

"A few shifts on the USS Hornet after leaving the academy" Lax replied. "After that, just a member of the team on Empok."

Sarah nodded and walked over to the Warp Core; one of the most advanced in Starfleet.

“Well; I hope you learn quick then. You will be running Delta Shift once you’ve learned the ropes down here. I run a very tight ship, so I expect the best performance you have at all times and I also expect my Engineers to learn multiple specializations. It will ensure that we have all fronts covered regardless of what comes up. Are you interested in Command at all?”

"To be honest I've definitely thought, about it for a new months. But I like wearing gold. I don't honestly see myself in command of a starship or anything.

"Fortunately for you command for Engineering still wears our trademark gold, at least for now. Who knows what the future will bring. I'll add you to my consideration for an Assistant Chief, I hope you can prove that you are fit for the job. Good luck." The answer came with a grin and a slow, even nod.

Lax nodded as well "I do whatever I can do. A Luna is a little more advanced than I'm used too, but I love a challenge . I'll definitely meet that challenge."

“I am pleased to hear it; go ahead and get yourself settled. We will regroup and I’ll catch you up on the ship on the morn.” Sarah gave a small smile as she spoke and then stepped back toward the warp core. “Dismissed, Lieutenant.”

"Aye" Myles said.
