Mission:
Episode 2 - The Sins of History
Location: Office of Criminal Apprehension/ESU - Deck 10 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD006 1100 hrs
Vincent approached the room leading into the ESU main area. This would be one of his frequent haunts now that he was the XO of the unit. He hadn't met the rest of the team or the CO Cassandra Frost. He was told, by the Captain, to make sure to meet her so it was a priority that they touched base. He wasn't sure what to expect, so without any further hesitation, he stepped through the doors.
The room before him was little more than a briefing room with a few rows of chairs all facing a small raised platform with a podium atop and a singular office off to one side with a name plate that said 'Office of Criminal Apprehension'. While there were a couple of security crewmen talking shop in the briefing area, the wasn't any other activity.
Stepping out of her office, Cassie closed the door behind her before giving a sigh and looking around the room. This assignment was proving to be a little more stressful then she's planed, but it was better than the alternative. Pausing as she set her eyes on a new arrival, Cassie's mood changed to one of curiosity, "Excuse me Lieutenant, can I help you?"
Vincent saw the woman step out of the office and gave her a smile. "Uhh..." He hesitated slightly. "I guess there is no easy way to say this other than to say it outright." He let out a quick chuckle before continuing. "I'm Lieutenant Vincent Zandrell. I'm your new team Executive Officer." He approached her and held out his hand.
“Ah ok then, I must have missed that memo. Well, first things first, do you have any issues taking orders from someone without an official rank?” Cassie asked
"No...Do you have any issue with having an XO who went after the man who killed his wife and took his life, then later was out on limited duty instead of being thrown in jail?" Vincent replied quickly and without hesitation. He respected the fact that she was willing to put everything out on the table and, it was only fair, to return the favor.
"Not at all. I appreciate someone who can get the job done. I am going to need people who can do whatever is needed when the situation calls for it. So the fact that you're willing to kill if needed is excellent" Cassie replied.
Vincent smirked slightly before replying. "I want to be frank with you. Me killing him wasn't because I had to. It was for vengeance. He killed my wife and, as far as I was concerned, killing him was going to make it all better. Don't get me wrong, if there is no other alternative, I'll do it if its necessary. Only when its necessary. I would prefer to try any other alternative that ends with these guys being captured alive before killing them. Nothing personal."
“And that’s why I want you to act as a counter balance for me. I’ve been out of Starfleet for a while so I tend to take a the rules as more of a list of suggestions. I may need you to pull me up on my behavior from time to time. Can you do that?”
Vincent crossed his arms across his chest and smiled a bit. "I'll do my best, but if its something I agree with you on, I can't promise I wont be by your side on it."
The smile on Cassie’s face only grew wider, “oh I think we’re going to get along just fine. Command may not like it, but that’s not my problem” she said, extending her hand again, “Welcome aboard, Lieutenant.”
He chuckled lightly, uncrossing his arms to extend one to take her hand. As he grasped hers, he replied. "Glad to be aboard, Miss Frost. And its either Vincent, Vee, or Ghost if you prefer."
"Ghost....I like it. And Frost is fine. I look forward to working with you"
"Likewise, Boss." Vincent replied with a smile.
