Vincent stood by the weapons cabinet, double checking the equipment and putting them in their place, going through his usual duties prior to his shift ending. He promised Cassie some holodeck time and he was determined to not disappoint her. As he placed the Phaser Rifle in its place an ESU member approached him.

"Got that file you asked for, Sir." He said as he walked up to Vincent with a PADD.

As the man stuck out the PADD, Vincent took it in hand. "You don't have to call me Sir, Eckhart. Either refer to m as my first name, last name, or callsign." He took a moment to look at the PADD, before locking eyes with Eckhart. "Got it?"

"Yes, Sir. Uhh... Zandrell." He said response.

Vincent look at Eckhart firmly before a smile formed. "Ease up, Eckhart." He gave the man a pat on the shoulder. "Finish up here and then take off." He said before walking off to his desk.

"Got it. Thanks, Zandrell." Eckhart replied before asking. "Anything you can tell me about the new member of the team?"

Vincent seemed to stop in his tracks. New member?! He questioned internally before turning around. "Come again?"

"Message just came in from the Ops department. A new ESU member just came on board. They should be on their way to the office. Frost is on her way." Eckhart replied.

He stood there in complete surprise, although his face didn't show it. Vincent didn't hear anything about a new member of the team. It felt like he just got here. He turned to go to his desk and placed the PADD on it. He gave Eckhart a confirming nod before shrugging. "I guess we'll see how it goes."

Walking into the ESU Office, Cassie immediately marched to her office door and paused for a moment before turning to Vincent, "Ghost, looks like we've got a new member coming in soon. Can you make sure they have a locker ready for them?"

"That's what they say." Vincent replied as he walked over to the locker area. "I hope they give us a bit more warning next time. Could have had this done beforehand." He looked over to Frost and shrugged a bit before turning. "What are you going to do?" He said as he picked up a PADD and began to check which locker was available.

Yvette, having met the CO, made her way to the ESU Office. Recognizing Vincent she asked "Ghost is that you?"

Vincent was beginning his work on the PADD, assigning the standard gear and locker code, until he heard his name. There was a slight pause and then a familiar feeling came over him. He recognized that voice. It was like a slap in the face as he began to think. Then, as he snapped out of it, it finally hit him. "Yvette?!" He turned around and finally saw a familiar face. With a smile, he put the PADD down and crossed his arms over his chest. "Long time, eh Blue eyes?"

"It has indeed." Yvette said. "How's life been treating you?" "Is Cassie here with you?"

"I wouldn't go anywhere without her." Vincent replied with a smile as he approached Yvette. He hadn't seen her in a long time. Not since the Repose. Not since that unexpected day where she needed to be saved. Vincent thought about her from time to time. Even going as far as using a few Intel contacts to see what she was doing, but he always kept his distance. He didn't know where he stood with her. She was very specific about who she brought into her circle of trust, but when it came to him she was family. "As far as all the other stuff, it's complicated and requires a bit of a story."

Stepping out of her office, Cassie was surprised to see the two officers getting along so well, “ah, it seems you two have already met. Interesting”

He looked over to Frost and replied. "The Lieutenant and I go way back. We served together for a time. Saved my butt a few times, as far as I recall, but I did return the favor."

"Yeah, I don't know how I missed seeing that assassin drone, but I suppose that's the point." Yvette said. "Besides I had my hands full with that walking/fighting statue. I should have expected it from an assassin called the Toy Maker." She added.

"That's good, at least a some of my team will get along with each other" Cassie said as she walked over to meet the new person, "Cassie Frost, ESU team leader. You must be Lieutenant Beauvoir?"

"I am indeed ma'am." Yvette said. "Yeah, 'Ghost's not too bad, for a man."

Vincent raised a brow while smiling. "I'm standing right here."

"Men, such fragile egos." Yvette said. Then hit him on the shoulder. "Don't worry, you're still one of the few people I trust with my life." She added.

"My ego is about as fragile as your pride, Blue Eyes." Vincent replied as he looked at her with a smirk. "Sometimes I forget you're part Vulcan."

"So, Lieutenant, are you going to have any problems taking orders from someone with no official rank?" Cassie asked. She was hoping it wouldn't be too long before she could stop asking that question, but for now, it's how things were.

"I have no problem taking orders from someone with no official rank, chain of command isn't solely about rank, its also about position and experience, Ma'am." Yvette replied.

Cassie nodded, “A good answer. I can see why you two get along. Alright, go find a locker and get squared away. Welcome onboard.”

Yvette smiled. "Thank you, Ma'am." She said and went in search of her locker.

Vincent walked with her, leading her to the locker area. He was still requisitioning her ESU Gear, but her locker was empty and ready to be coded. "I set you up over here. I'll let you know when your gear comes in, but until now, you can code it to you liking."

As she typed in her code she asked. "So, what's Frost's story?" "Andorian humans are very rare, Mercy told me that she works with one on the Pioneer, but she was artificially created."

"They aren't exactly rare. The mixture of species sometimes causes slight complications, but with proper medical experts, hybrid species aren't as rare anymore." Vincent replied, smirking a bit, as he added. "I should know." He let out a bit of a sigh, before continuing. "As far as her story goes... what does it matter? Until it becomes a problem, we shouldn't concern ourselves with it unless she decides to bring us into it. We both have things in our past, Blue eyes, we aren't exactly fond of. So, let's not worry about Frost's for now."

"Understood, its just the 'Spook' in me being nosey again." Yvette said. Changing the subject she said. "A couple of our friends from the Repose have found themselves on the Pioneer, Mercy's back with the Marines and Rocha back in Operations, oh and Rhaka, my silver skinned paramour, has enlisted in Starfleet and is a Holographic specialist on the Shiloh."

"Good to know everyone is doing great." Vincent replied with a smile as he leaned against the counter slightly. "Loktor is onboard as a Criminal Investigations Officer. I don't know if you remember him, my Ferengi contact in Intelligence that was undercover as an arms dealer? He's actually the one who got me onboard. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be on Betazed, drinking and gambling my nights away while my mom watched my daughter."

"So while you were living it up, I was tangling with Romulans, and fleeing a colony invaded by Borg, before leading an Away Team to recover my new CO from the Borg." Yvette said. "Oh and I do remember, Loktor, I make a note of every Ferengi I meet."

Vincent raised a brow. "Hey..." He said firmly as he leaned away from the counter and crossed his arms over his chest. "You don't think I would have loved to have been back on duty? Tearing it up or running missions instead of being stuck on Betazed? He took a step toward her and looked at her sternly. "Unfortunately, I couldn't do that because I decided to hunt down the man who killed my wife because I couldn't sleep at night knowing he was still breathing. I made the decision to take matters into my own hands and I paid the price for it by being tossed aside. It was better then jail, Yvette." He stood there firmly before uncrossing his arms. After a few breaths he took a step away before adding. "This may be my only chance to get back in good standing with Starfleet higher ups so I am doing my best not to screw it up."

"I feel for you Vincent, my brother, Jason was unable to prevent the death of his fiancée, Sarah." Yvette said. "He was devastated and I feared he might get himself killed, so I helped him hunt down those responsible." She sighed. "He is family, one helps family, I see you and little Cassie as family too, so whatever you need, I'm here for you."

Vincent took a calming breath before replying to Yvette. "Sorry, Yvette. I didn't mean to let go on you." He took a moment to walk away, close his eyes, and stop outside of the locker room area entrance. He leaned against the wall and opened his eyes again. Talking about his wife, ex-wife, was still a touchy subject. Part of him regrets doing what he did, but only due to hindsight. At the time, it was all he could think about and the only thing he needed to alleviate his pain for losing her the way he did.

"Don't worry about it, I can take it." Yvette said. "If you want to talk about her, any time, I'm here to listen."

He smiled back at her, letting out a deep sigh from his lips, before giving Yvette a nod. "I know, Blue Eyes. I know. When I'm ready."

"Understood." Yvette said, not prying further. "So, how's Cassie doing with her lessons?"

Vincent nodded smiled a bit. "Good, but she's having a hard time with being new. She spent so long in a Betazoid school where hardly anyone speaks aloud that its different from what she was currently used to."

"I've dated Betazoids before, their telepathy can be quite intrusive, while also leaving you isolated." Yvette said. "I've devised a few tricks to prevent them form learning too much from me."
