Episode 2 - The Sins of History
Location: Holodeck 5 - Deck 6 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD013 1200 hrs
It had been great working on the puzzle to sneak onto the station with Lieutenant Graesyn. And they were prepared to go have lunch together when Siadra was called away and well Sarah needed to go take care of something. Sarah was back and Siadra was very interested in finding out how things went. Tapping on her combadge Siadra sent out a call.
=^=Lieutenant Graesyn, It's Lieutenant Molaur. Do you have time for lunch? I would like to call in the rain check we had to take earlier.=^=
=/\= Graesyn… Aye, I’m actually off duty this afternoon. I’ve got some holodeck time booked in about an hour if that’s acceptable to you. =/\=
=/\=That is acceptable for me.=/\= Siadra responded. =/\=Is there a dress code that is needed for your holodeck lunch?=/\=
=/\= Wear something casual and comfortable; you'll appreciate the opportunity to get out of uniform for a little bit.=/\= Graesyn's answer was delivered with a small chuckle before she disconnected.
Siadra took the time to look at what she had in her drawers smiling as she decided not to wear a skirt. Instead she chose a pair of wide leg purple harem/boho style pants which had elastic on the bottom of the leg, and also had pockets. Something she made certain to have, be it a dress or a skirt. Just gotta have those pockets. For her top she had a lavender tee shirt. Upon her feet she wore, a pair of sandals light brown in color. She arrived at the holodeck at the appointed time, stepping inside.
Sarah was already in the holodeck and was sitting at the bar of a Prohibition Era speakeasy dressed in a pair of pinstriped slacks with a blazer and a amethyst blouse. She grinned to Siadra upon her entrance and motioned for her to join.
Walking over, Siadra took a seat next to Sarah, "I love this." running her hands along the top of the bar, liking the texture of the wood that was created for this program. "A speakeasy." she looked approvingly at Sarah's outfit , " I feel slightly... underdressed." giving a chuckle, "Your outfit is rather stylish."
Sarah chuckled; motioning toward the crowd assembled in the room which was dressed in a variety of different things. “It’s hard to be underdressed in a speakeasy, everyone came into them. If you wish though there is a door behind you that is set up as a changing room and that I’ve got tied into the replicator systems.”
Siadra gave pause then shook her head giving a giggle. "Actually I will stay with this outfit. I could be considered a Bohemian which were around at this time, those who considered themselves artistic, creative and didn't fit the so called normal lifestyle. And an interesting historical titbit, the Roma were given sanctuary in the 15th century, Kingdom of Bohemia and were accepted and recognized as part of that country. "
"You could at that; shall we find ourselves a seat?" Sarah inquired.
Around them the program went on; the dull roar of quiet conversation, the clinking of glasses as the pair of bartenders kept their patrons supplied with the liquor that at the time had been completely banned in the United States. A taller man in a dark trench coat eyed the pair of women warily but made no move to be aggressive or interrupt them.
"Yes, please lets get a table." Siadra looking around then spied one off in the corner where the backs could be facing there. "Oh look at that table what do you think?" her eyes drifted over towards the man who might be possibly trouble. "and then there is that one, the one who seems to be looking at us from time to time."
Sarah chuckled and glanced over to the man indicated. “I believe that he serves the purpose of security for the joint. Shouldn’t give us any trouble I think.” Her eyes slid to the original table indicated in the corner and nodded; appreciating the view it would give of the room. “That table will do excellently; allows us to enjoy a meal and keep an eye on things.”
Walking over to the table with Sarah, Siadra leaned in and whispered, "He might be security for here, what if he were a spy in disguise, for an underworld criminal organization instead?" Siadra smiling at Sara, and running her hand along the smooth top of the table, before she took a seat, scooting herself in. She looked at the center of the table, spotting a bowl of pretzels. "Ooh pretzels" picking up one and taking a nibble.
“Something like the mafia? I wouldn’t be surprised though I doubt he necessarily would be a spy so much as a mobster providing security and protecting the interests of the mob. I have this particular program set up as a Chicago speakeasy, roughly around Al Capone’s era.”
"I do like that, what attracted you to the Al Capone Era? The clothing? The music?" Siadra wanted to find out more.
“If I am honest; it’s a mixture. The drinks were creative; the language used was unique, and the fashion is somewhat pleasing to the eyes.” Sarah replied, motioning to the Bartender who promptly sent a pair of drinks to their table. “The Capone Era is also where the origins of the Corpse Reviver lies.” She motioned to the pair of crystal cocktail glasses, each of which was full to the brim with an aromatic drink. “I should warn you; the replication system for this program is set up to produce actual alcohol with reasonable accuracy.”
"Oh really! I am looking forward to tasting this piece of history. Let us indulge then and enjoy the ambience." Siadra paused, she wasn't certain about the name of the drink that Sarah had spoken of. "What is that? It sounds like something that has a bit of history to it."
“It’s a rather old drink from Earth’s prohibition; though it had variants before this one that were used as hangover cures. It was once said that the Corpse Reviver was a drink that if 4 were taken in swift succession would unrevive the corpse again.”
Siadra picked up her own, and took an exploratory sip. Her eyes widened at the taste and also feeling the punch of the alcohol in it. When she spoke it was a little bit hoarse "Smooth...." then she grinned, clearing her throat,"That is really good but also powerfuil, and you did warn me"
Sarah chuckled softly and nodded. “Aye; that I did; they are great for kickstarting energy for a little while though. Just refreshing enough.”
