Mission: Episode 3 - The One Who Got Away
Location: Corridor Outside of Holodeck 6 - Deck 6 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD002 1300 hrs

Nothing like trying to meet everyone all at once, yet logically it was the best way to do things Freyja thought to herself as she waited for Nyx to have a few more laps of water. She figured her partner needed it after dealing with the nervousness of the person that just scanned the harness. Once the sable grey Malinois sat and looked up at her, she gave that furry head a caress before picking up the bowl and dealing with it. Picking up the leash, she headed to hunt down the ESU's Executive Officer.

Yvette had just finished a training session on the holodeck. Her Romulan opponent was a hologram, but he was brutal. She'd based the hologram on a Tal-Shiar agent she'd had the misfortune of meeting.

Unfortunately for him, he'd lost his life, shortly after, at her hands.

She was making her way back to her quarters, when she noticed what appeared to be a young Bajoran with a dog approaching her. She stopped a waited for the Ensign to address her.

The walk to hunt down the ESU's XO had done them well, giving her a chance to think over a few things after her earlier talk with Ghost. Spotting the person ahead of her, Freyja quickly took in her features and mentally crossing her fingers this meeting would go well, she offered a slight smile as she reached the other officer and straightened her stance up, Nyx taking a nice alert sit next to her. "Lieutenant Beauvoir..." She paused just a moment as an internal fight happened as she hoped she had the right person and didn't just screw up. "I'm Ensign Harper, the newest member of your team."

"Bonjour, Ensign Harper, welcome to the Artemis, and the ESU." Yvette said. "What a beautiful dog, its a Malinois, isn't?" She asked.

"She is, her name is Nyx. She's my K9 Partner." Hearing her name, the dogs ears moved slightly, but other than that not a muscle moved in her position. Freyja on the other hand had shifted slightly as she held that smile but attentive stance before the lieutenant. "I was told to check in with you, so thought we would do that sooner rather than later."

"Hello, Nyx, I'm Yvette." She Yvette said keeping her tone even and adjusted to body language to show the dog, she wasn't a threat.

Returning her attention to Freya, she said. "Good, Ensign, I appreciate initiative." She gave the younger woman a reassuring smile before asking. "How long have you and Nyx be together?"

There was a slight thump thump of Nyx's tail as Yvette spoke to the dog, but other than that the dog held her position. Freyja's gaze watched the officer before her, letting the tenseness she was feeling ease just a bit as she spoke. "We've been together for just a little over a year now."

"Well, she definitely respects you." Yvette said. "I grew up around animals, my uncle had a farm not far from my house, and my brother's and I would visit there when we weren't in school, where I learnt about animal behavoir. Nyx is displaying protection of you and deference to your wishes."

"That's what makes her a good partner. She would do anything I asked her too, and I would do whatever I can to make sure she stays safe doing it. We work hard, she loves it... and of course off duty we play, she loves that even more." She tried not to chuckle as she said that, fingertips touched upon the softness of Nyx's head.

Yvette smiled again. "I'm glad." She said. "I have a pet, her name is Isis, she's a robot cat, a former intel gathering device."

Freyja couldn't help but to ponder the thought of a robot pet, but... in space it was logical, even more so if it had meant to be a device. "Sometimes Pets, no matter what kind, are a great thing to have. they are definitely good for helping with relaxation and enjoyment."

"Agreed." Yvette said. "Isis even curls up on my bed, near my head, as if she were a flesh and blood cat." Changing the subject, she said. "Tell me a little about yourself, Ensign."

The sudden change didn't even seem to phase Freyja as she rolled with it and responded. "I grew up Starfleet, one could say it's in my blood. I was originally training for criminal forensics before life threw me a curve ball and I found myself in the K9 unit training with Nyx. When not on duty, I'm either in the holodeck with her training, or relaxing with a good book."

"I'm Starfleet brat too." Yvette said. "My mother and older brother are both Starfleet officers." She laughed. "I know what you mean by being thrown a curve ball, I graduated as a security officer, only to be recruited by Starfleet Intelligence, and spent most of my career, so far, working for them."

"The joys of Starfleet, those curveballs can come at the drop of a hat it seems. Keeps us on our toes." Freyja said with a slight hint of a chuckle.

"Indeed." Yvette said. "They certainly do that." She agreed. "is there any further you'd like to about me?" The ESU XO asked.

"Not right off the top of my head." Freyja said with a slight cant of her head as she pondered everything with a soft smile.

"In that case, get yourself acquainted with the ship and I'll see you for your first shift. Good day, Ensign." Yvette said.

"Yes Ma'am, I look forwards to seeing you then." Stepping back she turned with a smile and headed off to do more exploring. Nyx hot on her heels as they went. Much to explore and think about, this ne adventure had her more than ready to go.
