Mission: Episode 3 - The One Who Got Away
Location: Sidebar Lounge - Deck 5 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD003 1500 hrs

Siadra was seated in the main mess hall, listening to the ebb and flow of life of the ship. An ensign stumbled into her table trying to make his way to another table. Almost making her spill her juice.

"Oh sorry, excuse me." the ensign mumbled as he left to sit with others who were exchanging events they had come across. On occasion they were being a little bit loud, one of them spoke of someone who they thought was really cute.

She couldn't help but overhear what they were saying.

"Say have you met the Captain's yeoman yet? She's really pretty, have any of you asked her out yet?"

One of the others, the one who bumped into Siadra's table shook his head. "Nope I don't dare. She's the captain's yeoman and I heard rumors that she may have a boyfriend already."

One of the others groaned slightly "Figured as much. Why do the pretty ones get taken already."

Really, the idiocy of those young men. Keema making a fuss, They are just going on hearsay and not finding out facts.

Siadra mused about that. I don't know anything about her, in fact I haven't met her before. Only Captain Kidd.

Siadra frowned at that thought, she finished off her orange juice. She rose up from her table to clear off her dishes, she paused, to comment to the ensigns.

"You know gentlemen I couldn't help but overhear your comments. Instead of going off suppositions, you ought to find out the facts, and actually approach the young woman. I know of a few ladies and even men who weren't approached due to those reasons. Missed opportunities for making friends or even a romance."

Her comment made the ensigns flush red." Sorry ma'am"

With that Siadra went to put away her dishes.

She quietly asked, "Computer, what is the location of Captain Kidd's yeoman?"

The polite soft female voice of the computer responded. "Petty Officer Second Class O'Connell is in Holodeck Five."

"Holodeck Five" the trill science officer mused. "I have my destination and now to seek out O'Connell." dramatically flicking back an invisible cloak, as Siadra made her way to Holodeck Five.

A few minutes later, Siadra stood in front of the door, reaching out to see what sort of program that O'Connell was running.

"Olympic Fencing? Fascinating. I wonder if she wouldn't mind my watching her." Siadra speaking quietly to herself. activating the com for the holodeck.

"O'Connell, this is Molaur, would you mind if I watch the program you are running?"

As the doors to the holodeck opened Rhi simply said "This is the Olympics. All are welcome." Although it was muffled through the mask of a fencer's protective equipment. Rhi was on the mats lunging at her opponent and scoring a point. The stands were filled with spectators and flags of nations long gone, but remembered on Earth, were hung all around the arena. On the back of Rhihannon's fencing kit bore the flag of Ireland. "What can I do ya for Lieutenant?" She said as she made her way back to her starting line and assumed the starting position.

"I came to see who you are."Siadra stated with a smile, taking a seat to watch the competition. "I've only seen you while you were on duty, seeing do the day to day details for the Captain. Thought I'd find out who you are, when not on duty."

"Ah then. Ye can pick up a foil or we can simply go share a drink. Yer choice. I know yer the historian round these parts. Ye don get to be a Yeoman without learnin a few things about the crew. Sadly, I don think I have much to tell ya." Rhi spoke her peace and then began another assault on the holographic opponent. This time scoring another point and ending the match with a win.

At the end of the match and the yeoman winning. Siadra leaped to her feet enthusiastically clapping. "Bravo, bravo!"

"I do not know how to fence, it is something I've not considered learning." Siadra moving from where she had been standing.

"I'd like to know if you have any favorite places you've been to? What made you decide to join Starfleet." Siadra stopped there. "Just to warn you, I do have a few questions to ask."

"Computer freeze program." Rhihannon said and everything stopped. The holodeck went quiet and she turned to Siadra. "You're the historian aren't ya. No wonder ya got so many questions. Right, then. Honestly, my favorite place is home. There is nothing like Ireland anywhere in the galaxy I will tell you. Although Trill comes close. I guess you want to hear that perhaps I joined Starfleet because I am an explorer or some such. Fact is I joined because I am not too good at the Science, or the fighting. But I am good at logistics, clerical work, filing and the such. So, I can keep this galaxy safe my managing the Capn's schedule." Rhihannon paused and wiped some sweat from her brow. "Well if you have more questions the least you can do is buy a girl a drink."

Giving a laugh, "You caught me red handed." Siadra giving a wink.

"Where do you want to grab a drink, the Sidebar? I am thinking that you could use something cool to drink with the exercise you had been doing." Siadra making a suggestion as to where they could go.

"The Sidebar it is. So long as you don't mind people seeing you slum it with a lowly enlisted person." Rhi said with a smirk. "Computer save program and end." The setting faded into the black and yellow grid of a holodeck. "To quote William Shakespeare. 'Lead on MacDuff'"

"Pish Posh." Siadra answered as to Rhihannon's comment of slumming.

"Slumming? Do I look like a lady of substance?" Siadra touching the right side of her face, having a pretend look of shock.

"There is no such thing as slumming in my vocabulary. You meet someone, you get to know them, rank be damned." The Trill woman answered with a grin.

==Side Bar Lounge==

After getting their drinks, Siadra's being a Shirley Temple, she was in the mood for one, and was quite happy for it. Admiring the color of the drink, with its rosey pink coloration, the small effervescent bubbles, dancing their way through the small cubes of ice in her glass. Upon it was the dark red cherry.

Siadra stirred the drink gently, hearing the quiet clink of the ice against the glass. A sip then Siadra looked at Rhihannon, wondering if she were enjoying her drink.

Rhi drank whiskey, nothing else, nothing added, neat the way nature intended. She took a sip of the amber liquid and closed her eyes as the tingle hit the back of her throat. "So, since you are buying the questions are all yours. What do you want to know. If you ask anything about the Captain you will not get an answer. There is one privilege more secure than a doctor/patient. That is the privilege of a Captain and their Yeoman."

Siadra chuckled. "I wouldn't ask you anything about the Captain. I would rather ask him myself. Pressing for details from someone else. not as fun. I prefer, a more personal touch."

She took a drink, then leaned forward, "Now as for questions for you. There has been some discussion as to whether you have a boyfriend or not. It seems that the young bucks are enamored of you, but think you are taken. Are you? And this is something that I won't be spreading around, as I feel that they need to actually ask, instead of just going on conjecture."

Rhi sipped her drink again. She did not show it but she was taken aback by the question. This was a starship, not a high school. "Ya know, whether I am taken or not is not the point. These young bucks as ye put it should get off their arse and come talk to me themselves. Instead of sending a Senior Officer to do it. I am sure that ye have better things ta do then to check in to my private life on behalf of someone who does not have the will to do it themselves." She was heated by the thought. If her mother were there she would say that Rhi's Irish was showing.

Now you've done it, got her sparks of fire raised up, just don't cause her to erupt into flames of anger Keema cautioned Siadra.

She did notice the sparks. "I agree, some, I suppose, can't take the heat and should stay away." Siadra said soothingly. "I do apologize for voicing that question." taking a drink of her Shirley Temple.

Deciding to move the discussion to another direction Siadra asked. "Besides fencing, what other hobbies do you like to do or participate in? One thing I did notice during your fencing you demonstrated gracefulness, sure steps with good balance."

Rhi's demeanor softened almost immediately. "I am sorry Lieutenant it is not your fault of course. Probably only doing a favor for a friend or some such. Yeah I guess you can say that I am graceful. I practice a lot of tai chi, I dance, and I have been figure skating ever since I was young. In fact the two holo programs I use the most are my fencing program and a lake from where I grew up frozen solid."

"Ice Skating!" Siadra's eyes lighting up. "I love watching those who glide upon the ice effortlessly. I've gone ice skating once or twice, both times despite my being skilled in dancing and I am no slouch when it comes to dexterity." she paused to shush the clamor of the voices who wanted to make a comment as to her experience.

"I am of the opinion that those who can ice skate, have the genetics for it. Sadly, I do not. Or perhaps I gave up too soon?" Siadra waved that thought off. "Never mind about that. I am rather intrigued as to your skills."

A pause, tilting her head slightly to the right, Siadra asked. "Where is home? I see by the light in your eyes it must be some place very special."

"If you are interested in skating then the next time that I go you must come. I will give you some lessons and we can see as you put it, if you have the genetics for it." Rhi laughed and then continued to answer the question. "I am from Limerick Ireland. There is a skating rink there right by the River Shannon."

Rhi's offer caught Siadra offguard, it was evident in her eyes then a warm smile traveled, over features, just beaming with delight. "That would be wonderful I would be grateful and also looking forward to that."

A drink from her glass, then Siadra remarked "Limerick, Ireland. That explains the musical nature of how you speak. I do love hearing your voice."

"Aye, yes. Most do, it is the blessing of the Celtic people I guess. The lads do so like it. That is until they get my ire up. Then they wish me voice would just go away." Rhi laughed at her joke and sipped her drink. Fact was she had not thought about a relationship too much. She had always been to goal oriented to care about settling down as it were. She still was goal oriented. The conversation with Dex proved that.

Giving a soft chuckle as to Rhi's joke, Siadra noticed someone having had come into the Sidebar holding a flower, a red rose. The dark-haired man seemed to be looking for someone, then his eyes landed on first Rhi, then Siadra then back on Rhi. A smile appearing.

Siadra raised an eyebrow then looked at Rhi, with a slight smile. "I think it maybe time for me to leave, there is someone who I feel might be wanting to approach the table and talk with you. And the reason why I say this is, he keeps on looking at you."

"You should not be in Science, you should be in Intelligence. You sneaky little... You set this up." Rhi was split 60/40 at this point. Sixty percent of her wanted to kill Siadra, and 40 percent wanted to meet this guy. Since murder would prevent her from obtaining her goals she went with the latter choice. She sighed heavily. "You can tell him to come over. You should also tell him that after this stunt he has an uphill battle."

Rhi's reaction and her accusation, made Siadra just a bit ticked off. The voices of the former hosts, uttered uh oh catching Siadra's mood that was making its way to the surface. Her eyes narrowed, looking Rhi square in the eyes, her jaw tightening, Siadra coldly said, "I did not set you up. That isn't my style, it is just an observation that I had made." Her hand gripped her glass, "Facts point into that direction. Him carrying a rose, looking around, then his focus tightening on you. He barely gave me a glance. Observation led me to believe that he was looking for you." Siadra setting her glass down upon the table, a little bit heavier than needed. "I don't know who that man is. Perhaps you will find out. I will let him know on my way out."

Rhi watched Siadra leave and grumbled under her breath. "If he is so nice why don't you take the rose and leave me the feck alone. This lad is going to have an uphill battle." As much as Rhi was upset about being made to meet a suitor in this manner. She hoped that she did not damage the potential friendship with Siadra.

Siadra passed by the young man who was hovering just inside the door, "Good luck." was all she said, though she did pause, watching the man heading for the table where Rhi sat.

Oh come on, forgive the lass, she was caught off guard, by your line of questioning. Aardru responded, in an Irish accent. Remarkably sounding like he had been born on the Emerald Isle. Of course, he was an actor when he was alive.

Siadra's eyes softened, Oh I won't keep a grudge, I can't blame her for thinking that way. I will need to make ammends at a later time. Just not right now, Rhi is going to be getting in the middle of a conversation and I hope the man will be able to be successful in getting to know her.

Siadra turned to continue on her way, Rhi was a very interesting woman, and the trill woman hoped that the yeoman would still be willing to teach her how to ice skate better. And that Siadra hadn't ruined a friendship with Rhi.
