Mission: Episode 3 - The One Who Got Away
Location: Office of the Chief Science Officer - Deck 11 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD001 0930 hrs

Hunter had found that meeting with Blake was definitely an interesting experience but one he was grateful to have nonetheless, and now it was time for him to meet with the head of the Science department, Lieutenant Molaur. He hadn't heard a lot about how the department run or anything but he hoped that it would be a fun and interesting experience for him to further himself professionally.

After spending a bit of time walking through the ship to get his bearings a bit better before he finally found the correct deck he was meant to be on, Hunter found the entrance to the the Lieutenant's office and employed the same actions he did when he met Blake: he made sure his long sleeve shirt was tucked in and rolled neatly and evenly at the elbows, pants weren't tucked into his shoes, and the commbadge was straight.

Stepping up to the door, he pressed the chime and waited patiently for the response to come from within. The initial anxiety he'd had was starting to die down a bit, but it was still there in the back of his mind like a creature waiting to strike.

Siadra was putting in the last stitch to a small bag she was hand-sewing, while listening to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, she almost didn't hear the chime as it had matched one of the notes.

"Computer stop music please. Door open. Enter!" her voice rang out musically. " Hello, hello" putting down the bag upon her desk.

Hearing the music coming from within, it only took Hunter a moment to place what it was. "Was that Beethoven you were listening to?" He cocked his head to the side but then shook it as he stood at the door when it opened. "I'm more of a Fur Elise kind of guy myself if I listen to classical. Sorry, I should introduce myself: I'm Hunter Hawkin, your new Forensic Entomologist."

"Hello Hunter, I am Siadra. While I do very much like Fur Elise a lot, Moonlight Sonata I play when I am in a contemplative mood. While Sherlock Holmes plays the violin while he thinks over clues. I do a little bit of stitching while I listen to music. " Siadra giving a chuckle. "Please have a seat," indicating the nearby sofa. "Would you like something to drink?"

"That's an interesting choice, I have to admit," Hunter agreed and nodded as he let go of some of the tension in his shoulders and took a seat on the sofa. "I might have to take your advice on listening to that while I work. I'll take a green tea if you've got one, please."

Siadra gave a nod, and went to pour Hunter some green tea. She already had the tea prepped inside its teapot.

"Green tea it is." Siadra smiling, as she poured two cups and brought them over. Along with the tray that had a bowl with sugar cubes and another container which held honey.

Siadra wanted hers unsweetened and took a seat near Hunter. Once settled, Siadra picked up her cup.

"Tell me something about yourself, what made you interested in being an entomologist?"

"Well," Hunter poured his tea and added just the smallest amount of honey to it, forgoing the sugar and then sat back. "My parents and siblings encouraged me from a really young age to explore my interests and hobbies, and I had a fascination with bugs and the like, so it was only natural that I developed it from there." He took a sip of the tea, it was delicious. "It was thanks to additional encouragement from the wildlife park I used to work at that I was able to get into university and pursue the idea of being an entomologist. It's also the reason I got the nickname of Bug Boy from everyone." He couldn't help but laugh at the thought of it.

"It was easy enough to cross train to become a Forensic Entomologist and start working with the local police force as a civilian consultant, much like I am here, because I didn't shy away from anything." Hunter shrugged and continued on, "It's all quite fascinating when you drill right down into it, if I'm being honest."

"Well you are a welcome addition. Our last entomologist was instrumental, in saving my life, before he got transferred. Not only him but Doctor Kenobi."

Siadra gave a shiver, rubbing the hand which held her tea, with the other. She placed her cup upon the table in order to not spill her tea.

"I had forgotten to wear gloves when I looked into one of my boxes and had been stung or bitten by some insect. "

Siadra rose from her chair, stopped herself from pacing. "I didn't find out what sort of insect had attacked me. As it hadn't been found and I didn't see it."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Truly, he was. "Accidents can happen, that's for sure, but I'm glad that you're okay now. Am I right to assume there was medical assistance straight away?" There were hundreds, thousands even, of different types of insects that bite and sting, both Earth-based and exotic, so it could've been anything that got her and Hunter had no way to know unless he had some more specific details about it.

"Yes, there was medical assistance I woke up in Sickbay, rather thankful for the skill that Doctor Kenobi had at her fingertips. I would have died without her." Siadra responded.

"I'd be extremely thankful too, if I'm being honest." Hunter admitted. "I've been witness to my little sister be swarmed by bugs that it turned out she was allergic to and she had to be rushed to the hospital because we couldn't, I couldn't identify what they were." He thought about that for a moment. "She ended up getting multiple medications pumped through her after a lot of trial and error and she's fine, she's safe aboard the USS Astrea now."

"I am gratified to hear that. Dr. Kenobi apparently had done the same thing to save me. It was very concerning. " Siadra stated. " Have you met any of the other scientists on the ship?"

Hunter shook his head, "Not yet, unfortunately. I've only met you and Lieutenant Blake at this stage. Much like my sister, I'm not really the best in starting up conversations with people I don't really know, and I'm kind of socially awkward." He huffed out a low laugh and added, "I mean, I'd like to be talking with other people, but there are just times where I can't without feeling out of place. Um, have you had a chance to look over my file at all?"

"I did read over your file briefly." Siadra replied, "And I do understand the awkwardness of meeting someone for the first time." giving a kind smile. "I didn't go fully in depth of reading the file as I truly believe in getting to know the person in a more face to face session."

"Well, um," Hunter started, "Where to start. As I mentioned, I have a sister who serves as a Marine Combat Engineer and two older brothers, and we're all named after earthly aspects of nature: Brooke, Jasper, Eden, Hunter, Ember and Ryland. I have a couple of medical conditions that have prevented me, more like disqualified me from joining Starfleet, but besides that, I'm physically and mentally healthy to do my job."

He paused to take a breath, not wanting to ramble on, and laughed, "I don't know what you want me to say, really."

"I will be nice and not have you tell me everything." Siadra giving a teasing smile. "I do like the fact of how you got your name. Very lovely piece of history, and something that I do like finding out. I'm a bit of a historian as well."

"I like history," Hunter admitted with a smile. "Given there isn't really that much to do when I'm waiting for samples to analyze or investigations to be completed, I like to read up on the history of different things. Albeit, my idea of historical research is probably a lot different to yours, I'm guessing."

"Well, I like history on many levels, I look forward in finding out what you consider history. All history is important from little cells to insects to, where something came from." Siadra paused for a moment as she thought over what they have discussed. "Would you be willing to assist in other projects or other scientists in their investigation."

Hunter nodded, "Of course. What are some projects or investigations that are being worked on at the moment that I could end up being a part of?"

"The Vamcet trial is drawing to an end unless we are taken into the court room where forensics is concerned we don't need to worry about that. I do need to check on my planner for today to see if there is something that has come up. Sometimes I do need a reminder especially if I get rather involved in a project."Siadra giving a quiet laugh. "For now though, we'll just get back to checking out information that comes our way, and studying cases that come our way or get information as well."

Her thoughts went to something not done. "For now welcome aboard the Artemis and to my team."

"Thank you, Lieutenant." Hunter nodded his thanks as he stood up. "I'll be seeing you shortly on shift." With that being said, he made his way out of the office and back to his quarters.
